How has technology affected your job?
Being able to record in my basement is nice. I can make better quality recordings than the biggest studios in the 90s and earlier, just with my laptop. But the downside of modern technology and its impact on the music industry is that everyone and their dog can record in their basement now. The idea has come about that there is no monetary value to good art anymore. How the record companies and musicians’ union let Spotify, etc., get away with paying so little for art is astonishing.
I used to make thousands off my albums. Now I’ll be really, really lucky if I break even on this one.
